Myfacetraining may be helpful in 3 different categories:
- In
long-term head-face, neck and shoulder dysfunction and pain - Facial asymmetries
- Facial expression and beauty
In a lot of cases there are overlaps and maybe be discussed with the therapist, coach of the face coach .
The main goal of the training in all the three categories is mentioned here;
In the following text we will discuss explain more about these 3 catagories
Pain rehabilitation:
If a face is considered to be “beautiful” depends among others on a symmetric and flawless facial expression. To be seen as beautiful by others can play a big role regarding personal relationships, general well-being and general quality of life. “Beautiful” people still enjoy a special reputation and therefore a higher social status.
With the help of the Facecoach, facial beauty and expression can be improved by special training of several facial muscles. Moreover emotions can be learned situatively, so that participants are able to act more adequate and self-confident in social contexts.
The training can be used for e.g.:
- after botox treatments
- after cosmetic surgery
- to stimulate facial beauty
- training of facial expressions (e.g. actors, models)
Facial asymmetry often follows a muscular dysbalance, whereby facial expression, distinction of left/right and therefore recogntion of others facial expression and emotions can be impaired. This loss of the ability to identify basic emotions encoded by facial expressions of others often leads to misunderstanding, reduced empathy as well as to uncertainty in social interactions. Furthermore people often are self-conscious because of the structural changes of their face (e.g. rigidity, fuzziness), so they try to avoid entering social interactions. Beyond that, facial asymmetry in children can be the reason for a changed bone stimulation, so further asymmetry in facial bones manifests itself.
A systematic myfacetraining-program for facial rehabilitation can be useful for:
- facial nerve paresis (facial paralysis)
- after a facial trauma (accidents etc.)
- after neck- and facial surgery (tumor operation, jaw operation)
- supportive in orthodontic treatment in children
Training of facial beauty and expression:

People who suffer from pain often have a disturbed distinction of right/left (lateralization). Therefore the recognition of the basic emotions shown by others can be impaired, which makes it difficult to communicate nonverbally and to interpret the feelings of the counterpart the right way. Thus it can be quite tough to show the right reaction.
Furthermore (chronic) pain can change the face muscles which again changes the mimic- so showing of emotions gets worse. In this way pain can equally affect people physically and mentally, so they have to be treated specifically. The myfacetraining-program is a promising approach to improve lateralization and emotion-recognition.
An individual rehabilitation-program supported by a facecoach already achieved great success regarding:
Facial pain/ headache:
- migraine
- tension headache
- cervical headache
- (unilateral) tinnitus
- (atypical) facial pain
- …
Jawproblems/ temporomandibular pain
- unilateral cracking jaw pain
- reduced chewing function
- oblique mouth opening
- pain in jaw muscles
- ..
Shoulder-/neckpain
- neck stiffness and shoulder pain in combination with unilateral shoulder pain
- ….
